I've seen RS8FXX and RS8DXX and RS8600, among others.Īlso, it is probably best to NOT update the firmware on your drive. ASUS BW-16D1HT, UHD Friendly Internal 5.25. LG BU40N, UHD Official Internal Slim Sata 9.5mm. I would post on the makemkv forum to get help with that issue. Recommended UHD Drives to get: All of these drives will need to be flashed to unlock UHD Reading/Ripping. Doesnt sound like its downloading the libredrive support. With the right firmware it should be possible for a drive to be able to playback UHD Blu-rays the standard way and allow LibreDrive access. However, I have not seen anyone post that their drive platform is RS8EXX. That version is definitely libredrive compatible so you have a makemkv issue going on. UHD friendly drives support BDXL Blu-rays and LibreDrive mode for AACS 2.0 encrypted UHD Blu-rays. According to the first post on this thread, the RS8XXX drive platform should be supported. Fingers crossed you can do something as the drive is pretty usles in my 13th gen intel system with no SXG no play / no rip etc. Your drive platform is listed as Pioneer RS8E21. See this post: viewtopic.php?p=129189#p129189ĭid you see that message? Do you have a firmware dump in your data directory? Usually, optical disc drive is a device that scans the surface of a disc with a laser and passes the data to another device. There is a way to use makemkv to enable libredrive on a disc and then use imgburn to create a protected iso. LibreDrive is a mode of operation of optical drive (including DVD, Blu-ray and UHD), aiming at accessing disc data directly without any restrictions or transformations enforced by drive firmware. I have downloaded all the firmware (1.01, 1.02, 1.03) but am not keen to use any of them yet, especially if the latest may disable LibreDrive and ruin my chances of using UHD discs. If you have a drive with a firmware that is supported, it just works. It works smoothly with BDs but I always get "LibreDrive compatible drive is required to open this disc - video can't be decrypted" when I try a 4K disc. As far as I can see, nobody on the forum has mentioned the Pioneer BDR-XS07B-UHD drive (Japan only?) It is black, so perhaps the B simply refers to that (I've read that the silver Pioneer doesn't play friendly with MakeMKV).
